With just a couple of days to go before Molly starts her 2009 rally campaign, she took the time to answer some questions about this weekend's event, the Bulldog International Rally North Wales, round 1 of the British Rally Championship.
Have you had a chance to test in the new car?
Not as yet. We have a Shakedown for the rally on Thursday afternoon, so will get a chance to get back behind the wheel then.
Are you expecting the car to feel different compared to the Swift you drove last year in Yorkshire? It is a new car, but built exactly the same so shouldn’t feel any different.
Do you know much about the other guys contesting the Swift Sport Cup?I competed against one of them when I came over last year, but the others are all new to the series, so not much!
What conditions are you expecting for this weekend’s rally – road and weather? From what I am told, the weather is always wet in Wales and they are predicting rain for the weekend. We have had good weather for the last week though, so hopefully a little bit of rain won’t be too bad. The roads are supposed to be very good, quite fast but a bit of everything. In two days I will know more!!
With such a large field, do you think the roads will chop up and make it difficult for smaller cars like the Swifts?Yeah, we have two long stages repeated so the road cutting up will be inevitable. I think it will be a case of driving smart on the second passes and trying to steer clear of punctures.
Have you and Jemma had a chance to do any practicing or will that have to wait until later this week when you do your recce? We will both be arriving in Wales on Wednesday evening so the plan is to spend some time then, and on Thursday, getting back into the swing of things before recce on Friday.
What are your goals for this weekend?I don’t know what to expect given for most of us, it’s our first year in the series. To be honest, my goal is for a podium finish, but we will be taking it one step at a time.
