Molly has completed day one of the Ulster International Rally in very difficult conditions.  Whilst the weather stayed fine for Friday morning’s Shakedown, just a couple of hours before the rally proper got underway, showers returned and made driving on the tarmac roads very tricky.
With a definite plan to finish the event and gain the maximum points possible, Molly took a steady approach to the day’s six stages.  She was the third fastest Suzuki on SS1 and fourth fastest on the remaining five stages.  Her cautious approach proved to be a smart decision after Luke Pinder, who currently sits just one point ahead of Molly in the Championship race, crashed out on the first stage of the day.  He is now over an hour behind the leading Swift driver, Richard Sykes.
Saturday will see crews return for another eight stages and Molly will take the same steady approach.  Current Series leader, Gordon Nichol, holds down third place after day one, and Molly’s aim is to get to the finish in the best possible position whilst not taking any unnecessary risks.
