Two weeks down and I think I have acclimatised to the weather as much as I am going to! The daylight hours are minimal at this time of year, so it’s a change driving to and from work in the dark as well as having to scrape the ice off my windscreen each morning. They put salt on the roads to clear the snow/ice, which means a lot of salt sprays up onto the windscreen, which makes vision pretty average. I must get my windscreen wiper water bottle fixed! I can see now why UK vehicles rust early in their lifespan!
I have had a week at my new job at M Sport and I'm really enjoying it. I am just in awe of the place every morning when I drive in. For me it's very different going to work in an office (and staying clean all day), as opposed to working in the workshop.
On Friday our local pub had a belated Australia Day night for me, complete with inflatable kangaroos, sharks, cork hats, flags and even an inflatable sun. We all had a great night modelling the cork hats.
I am now sitting on the ferry returning from a weekend in Ireland with the McCormacks and their rally crew. It was snowing when I arrived and the countryside looked so pretty. The Irish roads were very icy and slippery and there was a close call with a cow that wandered into the middle of the road, which kept it interesting!
Plans are well underway to convert the Citroen I will drive this year to a 'Max' spec and I am looking forward to more trips over to Ireland to help with the preparation.
I would also like to say a big thank you to the generous people who have come on board for the supporters group. I am getting one step closer to my target and would love to hear from you if you're keen to join us!
