It has been great to spend a few weeks at home and wonderful to catch up with my friends and family.  I can’t believe how quickly the time has passed and now I’m back off to the UK.  On one hand I’m really keen to get the year underway, on the other hand I’m contemplating leaving the Australian summer and heading into a UK winter which has been one of their coldest in many years.  A friend emailed me a photo of my car which was left sitting in the driveway and it was buried under the snow!  I wonder if it will start?

I have spent the majority of my time at home working on my 2010 rally plans, predominantly trying to source sponsorship and I am very excited to have both the Australian Motor Sport Foundation and Virtual Display Group back on board.

I have also started a supporters group to assist me in raising the remaining funds required for the year.

One really exciting plan in place is to make a mini documentary of the year.  ONE HD have confirmed their commitment to air the program, which will be spread over a number of ten - fifteen minute segments.  The idea is to show the ‘behind the scenes’ story as well as the events themselves.  Greenlight TV in the UK will be contributing footage from the events and the behind the scenes footage will be a combination of footage shot by a freelance cameraman in the UK, and footage that I will take myself – a video diary type of thing.

The documentary is a fabulous opportunity to provide value back to my sponsors.

Over the Christmas - New Year break I had friends visit from the UK.  It was great fun and we all enjoyed showing them around.   Their first questions were all about Australian snakes and spiders, and we dismissed their concerns, with comments that yes while they do exist you rarely see them.  Funny thing is that the day after they went home we had a red-bellied black snake on our back verandah, a redback spider in a swag and then I got stung by a jelly fish in the river.  Welcome to Australia!

I’ll have a few days when I arrive in the UK to get organised before I start my new job at M-Sport.  My job is a customer sales assistant for the S2000 sales program.  The demand for the new S2000 cars has been really high so I will be very busy.

I will also be heading to Ireland on the weekends to help with the upgrade of the Citroen C2R2 to a “Max” specification. It is going to be a completely different car to anything I have driven before and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel.

I will keep you posted..

Happy New Year!
